Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat (All Yarned Up) and Sugar Coat (Sour Apple)

image

Bought these at a steal- only $6 SGD each! (Watsons sells both at $19.90)
I thought I'd be really really impressed by them both because I've heard so many raves online, especially about the fuzzy coat, but surprisingly it didn't appeal to me as much as I thought they would.

All Yarned Up looks better on its own or over a nude colour for some reason.. I expected it to 'pop' nicely with a dark base but it wasn't fantastic. I preferred it on its own. On a side note, this has got to be the most pungent nail polish I've had so far. When I opened the bottle I nearly choked up because I was so overwhelmed. I change my nail polish every week, so I'm pretty used to the smell already, but boy, this really takes the cake.

Application was smooth and I did not need to go fishing because the bars are so dense, but getting them to distribute evenly is a bit of a chore as they tend to clump to one end and leave the sides kinda lacking. I think they would look better spaced out over a base but thicker if over a light base/ on its own.

Sour Apple is exactly like a lumpier and more muted (less neon) 'Highlight of my Summer' by China Glaze, down to the chalky look. I swear they are colour dupes. I got Sour Apple hoping to chance the perfect mint green I was looking for, but was slightly disappointed again. I wanted something more green (I guess that's technically not mint but a light green), but by all accounts this has been the most perfect mint so far.

Application was easy, took about 2-3 coats. Dried really fast and the texture started coming out only as it dried. It is pretty scratch-resistant, don't add a top coat for this one or you'll smooth out the lumps.

I've done a quick manicure featuring these two polishes (pardon my short nails, it was a school day) and Glittering Garland from China Glaze as a base for All Yarned Up as an accent nail. You'll notice that the colour clashes a little but I couldn't get All Yarned Up on its own, it wouldn't show up as well using my lousy phone camera if so.

What do you think about these two polishes? :)
Yay or nay?

Bath and Body Works PocketBacs: Vanilla Berry Sorbet, Sweet Pea, Fresh Picked Garden Herbs and Apple Blossoms, Midnight Pomegranate

I've been lusting after these for so long, but they weren't available in my country :((( so, I decided to take a leap of faith and join a spree, and got five bottles! I've already given away the other two before I thought of taking photos, but that's fine because the other two have colours that don't quite match! *colour-anal photographer here*

Anyway, the ones I got were (from L-R): Sweet Pea, Vanilla Berry Sorbet, Fresh Picked Apple Blossoms and the other two are Midnight Pomegranate and Fresh Picked Garden Herbs.

I should add that I got these for their scent and not for bacteria-busting purposes, so don't expect me to review about how much it helps me to keep my hands clean blahblahblah... BECAUSE I DON'T USE THEM ON MY HANDS! (whoops)

My absolute favourites are Vanilla Berry Sorbet and Fresh Picked Garden Herbs (which I gave to my bf)! Vanilla Berry Sorbet reminds me of a very sweet and sexy smell, and I love it! It might be a bit strong for some people though, but for that same reason it lasts longer and lingers beautifully on me for hours and hours!

I might be a bit biased because it's the scent I've been looking for for like forever since I smelled it on my classmate and she refused to let me know what it was >△< so HA, I got it anyway! (I can't use it in school because of her though :( )

Fresh Picked Garden Herbs is a sweet, fresh, clean scent with a bit of a spicy tinge... And it's subtle yet strong- I really can't begin to describe it! I keep stealing it back from him to use so technically it's still mine haha ≧▽≦ did I mention how much I love spicy scents?!

I had high expectations for sweet pea because I've seen raves about it in reviews, but it was too strong and sweet and floral and I hated it. It lingers too long for my liking because I don't like how it smells. Doesn't work well with my body chemistry so I'm thinking about giving it away.

Fresh Picked Apple Blossoms is a nice, inoffensive scent. It's pleasant enough, but not something that would make me go 'WOW!' It doesn't smell like apples. I have no idea how apple blossoms smell like though.

Midnight Pomegranate is just a intense sweet musk. Meh. It's like a muskier, edgier version of sweet pea. Too old for me.

So that's it for my very short review! If you haven't realised yet, I'm switching to short posts I can type out on the go since I'm so busy right now :( hope you guys support me all the same!

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure™ in Choco-Latte (240)

I can't love this enough!!!

I bought this on Qoo10 for 4 SGD, a total steal given that Sally Hansen is a pretty reputable brand :)
Choco-Latte is similar to Butter London's 'Tea With the Queen', in fact it might be a pretty good dupe but I haven't done a proper comparison yet because I tried Tea with the Queen at my friend's house! The colour is sort of a pinkish dark beige, I think some people call it a tan instead of a nude but it's a perfect colour for any occasion! (except parties maybe)

In fact, I feel it applies better than Butter London!! 2 coats to full opacity, no air bubbles at all, no streaking, no lines showing up. It is my most manageable polish so far, and I couldn't believe my eyes when I first tried it. I don't know if it chips easily though since I haven't left it on long enough.

Credit must be given to the fan-type brush- it applies the polish really nicely and reaches all parts well, so I don't need to struggle to fill the sides because the brush fans out and applies it just right. *squeal* I can cover my whole nail in two strokes! I used a thinner first coat but it was nearly opaque even then, and one more coat to get it just right :)
The polish dries really quickly, which I'm grateful for because I'm such a klutz and always mess up my nails minutes later. I topped this with Sally Hansen Dry Kwik Nail Colour Dryer, which I feel really helps.
Other people might beg to differ, judging from the reviews I seen. You either love it or hate it, apparently- and I'm in the former group! It contains mineral oil that helps with the drying process. Some people dislike it because of the oiliness, but it keeps my cuticles healthy and protected :) it's more runny than a polish so as long as you are careful it shouldn't be too messy!

I might buy another bottle of this as a spare because I can definitely see myself using this a lot :) Or other polishes from this range. Again, I love the brushes from this collection!!
Choco-Latte is a good choice for everyone, and it flatters mid-toned people like me quite well! The darker nude makes my skin tone look fairer, but even pale-skinned ladies can do no wrong with this- treat it as a camel/ tan shade for an everyday, no-fuss mani- perfect for work and other formal events too!
(Sally Hansen should hire me to promote this range hahaha. Hint, hint.)

Skinfood Haul!

Hi guys I couldn't help myself-
I'll post a quick update about all the crazy freebies I'm getting recently!
Warning: whole bunch of pics coming up

What happened is that I won Skinfood's Facebook giveaway, and they dropped me this hamper worth $100. However, I was sorely disappointed for various reasons (like a broken eyeliner etc.) , and behaved like a spoilt unappreciative little kid and posted this long rant on their page.

I think I must have given them a shock.

But they were extremely courteous and responsive, and I felt really overwhelmed by the kindness and helpfulness of the Skinfood personnel. When I told them that the products did not really suit me, they prepared another hamper from the new line as well as a new eyeliner in a more suitable shade. I can't even...
Pictures from the new hamper below.

I really love the brown eye pencil, even though it smudges pretty easily and you need to touch up often. It just glides on in such a heavenly way!
(detailed review when I have the time)

After the whole incident, I felt really shameful and won over by their hospitality, so I went down to one of their stores and bought the Peach Sake Toner and Acorn Jelly Mask by way of giving them business ;-;

So, don't be afraid to stand up for yourselves but do think about how others will feel!
Gosh I feel like a bitch

I feel that getting the eye pencil made it worth it though

Lactacyd Revitalize Youth Reviving Daily Feminine Wash

MY EXAMS ARE OVER!!
HALLELUJAH!!

Today's post will be kinda sensitive and all *cough* because I will be reviewing a feminine wash. Well, that's a euphemism actually. Feminine wash sounds way better than... well... *cough*
(Gosh I think I will be coughing a lot in this post)

I have decided to put off the mystery post (fine, it's a nail polish post) because I have school right tomorrow and painted nails aren't allowed. *aggrieved*
 <--- me going to school

So this is how it looks like on the outside. It's 250ml- (look at the picture)

so I expect it will last for a long time. My friend recommended this to me- the crazy thing is, she uses it as conditioner for her hair and also as a face wash!! Crazy right? Then I went to do some research on other feminine washes like 'Summer's Eve' (hey my name!) and 'Dove' and I found tons of reviews of people doing the same thing!
I'm still kind of stunned. I don't think I'll be using it as a face wash but I might try it as a conditioner. Apparently it works because it's acidic like conditioners (pH 3.5).

I got this during a sale by Beauty Language (it's invading malls everywhere in Singapore) and initially I was looking for the 'White Intimate' or the normal one, but I didn't see it on sale so I just got this since it was the only one instock. I was like 'I'm not exactly old but oh well'.
AND THEN I SAW THE OTHER KINDS ON SALE THE NEXT DAY. GRRRRR.

Anyway, it came with a free pump nozzle (separate) and feminine wipes to keep yourself clean on the go.

I really love the smell of this thing- it smells so mild, like what you would use for babies, and I have been using it for crazy things like:
1) Washing my hands
2) Cleaning random containers because it smells nice
3) Mixing it with my foot scrub in hopes the acid will somehow kill off my dead skin

I really wouldn't advise you to try all these though. At your own risk  Don't say I didn't warn you.

Okay, on to more proper things.
I'll show you how it looks like-

(that's not a pimple- it's a mole! I'm getting too lazy to watermark all my photos so just don't steal them off me.)
Gosh, it looks so slimy O_o

It has this silver-y appearance, and produces quite a lot of foam when rubbed!
(after rubbing for a few seconds, without water! With water, more foam is produced- the foam helps to reach hard-to-reach areas!)

My skin always feels so soft and smooth after using this~  *happy face*

I think this makes a good addition to your bathing routine. Normal soaps are usually alkaline and can harm your *cough* area, so... well... I'd suggest a trip to Lactacyd's website so you can learn more about what is suitable for you! (and save me the awkward explanations)

Rating❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ (9/10)
Price: 19.90 SGD for a set of two 250ml bottles, a nozzle and feminine wipes (10 wipes)

E.L.F Wet Gloss Lash & Brow Clear Mascara

You'll have to excuse me for the lack of pictures for the next few posts!
My family is on holiday and they've taken the DSLR, so.... no pictures. ;-;

Anyway, I’ll be reviewing the Wet Gloss Lash & Brow Clear Mascara from E.L.F today.

credits to beautybeaucoup.blogspot.com

I love the affordability of E.L.F products, and I use this everyday because it gives my lashes a subtle lift and length without coming off as overly fake- it looks like you just washed your face and the water stayed on your lashes!

I guess that’s the ‘wet look’ for you! Wonder if Gatsby’s hair gel works the same way? *thoughtful* Would be so much cheaper, wouldn’t it? *feels consistency of mascara* Hmmm… maybe I just hit upon some industrial trade secret!

Okay, jokes aside (I don’t want to be sued), if you are looking for something with heavy-duty lifting and curling, this mascara is not for you. In fact, I find that my lashes are less curled than before (my lashes naturally curl up at the ends)- I get longer, sweeping lashes. This would suit people who already have decent lashes, and are looking for something to brighten up their eyes without coming across as heavily made up.

This does not have very long lasting power and is not waterproof or smudgeproof, so a re-application is needed after 2-3 hours. You can also revive it with a careful swipe of water with a clean mascara wand or if you do not have one on hand, swipe your finger in an upwards movement (be very careful though). This is a trick I found out after fretting over clumping lashes- one too many re-applications will make your lashes clump.

The tube is a double-ended one, labeled ‘eyelash’ and ‘eyebrow’ on each end, but I just use both ends for my lashes. The wands are the same anyway. I really like the wands because they do a good job of separating the lashes, and there is this part at the top of the tube that gets rid of excess product so the brush won’t contain too much gel and make your lashes clump! One or two swipes of the wand should do the trick- this isn’t one of those ‘false lashes effect’ mascaras, and you want to avoid clumping.

Did I mention I really hate clumping lashes? …no? Well, I think it shows in my post.

Well, that's all guys! Pictures to be added up soon (hopefully)!

H... *choke cough*.... h...haze

Terrible haze in Singapore...
I'm plain tired out and grumpy about sitting in a stuffy room all day.
My throat hurts, my head hurts, my eyes hurt.
I want to eat ice-cream but I don't want to go out and buy some because I'd die in the haze.

What?
You don't know what's going on?
Google 'Singapore haze'.
If you want to see examples of human stupidity, google 'indonesia response to singapore haze'.
Guaranteed facepalm moment.
To all you Fairy Tail fans, here's a meme for you.

MySpringIt dupe, the EpiStick Facial Hair Remover Review

I realised I've not reviewed any beauty tools yet!
Partly because it's kinda embarrassing...

I'm sure most of you would have heard of MySpringIt. It is this spring thingy that claims to get all the fine facial hairs off...

So.. does it really work? Well, I've tried it and I'm telling you that it does!
It pulls up hairs from the root, which hurts a lot at first and then after awhile, you get used to it.
Avoid tugging too much at stubborn hairs- roll it gently up or down (I think outwards?) and if the hairs are not coming out, leave it and come back to it later.

I've inserted a video from Youtube to show you how it works. I was using it the wrong way (bending it back and forth, though that worked fine too) until I saw her video, so embarrassing omg. Hers is a dupe too, because no one would buy a spring THAT expensive. Like what, 20 USD? I might as well buy an awesome epilator!

Guess how much mine cost?
1 SGD. Like 0.80 USD!! Whahahahaha! Don't believe me? I have a screenshot to prove it.

In your face, everyone who's ever bought the actual thing!
Unfortunately, this seller is all out of stock, but you can this at a similar price- 1.80 SGD from here. Oh gosh I sound like such a cheapskate. But hey, 80 cents can buy you a nice ice cream! Maybe those cheap Nestle kinds you see in those mini marts... or a roll of Mentos.
Oh oh and the MySpringIt website says you can use it for up to a year without replacement. Why would you need to replace it? Because the spring gets loose or something? *confused*

But I digress.

For people with sensitive skin, you may want to put a bit of baby powder before using this or aloe vera gel after, because like all hair removal methods that use pulling/ tugging, if you pull up your skin too much or too hard you start getiing little red bumps/ welts or even break out with tons of tiny pimples!

I experienced the tiny red bumps when I tried to remove the baby hair around my upper chest and neck. My upper lip was fine, though.
It doesn't seem to work much for leg hair or arm hair, but it works fine on your underarm hair. I thus concluded that this spring thingy works best on tiny short hairs, so maybe that's why it didn't work for the long hairs on my arm.

I think this entire post was full of TMI about my hair habits :X Speaking about these things are still kinda taboo in Singapore, y'know?

Hope it helped, so my embarrassment would be worth it!

Hazeline Snow Moisturising Cream (雪花糕)

Quick post:

Hazeline Snow Moisturising Cream (雪花糕)<--- Is this the Chinese translation? Omg my Chinese quite cui so don't blame me if I got the 'gao' part wrong.

I think many of you (Singaporeans at least) will have heard or used this before!
It is like some super old beauty product lol. I bet your grandmothers/ mothers would have a container of this on hand for sunburns, mosquito bites, cuts, burns, etc.

After awhile, a white cast will form of your skin, giving a powdery look. I didn't swatch it though. Sorry!

This product is very similar to those 'Snow White' creams Korean brands have been touting about recently. My friend purchased a container (50ml) at 9.90 SGD, mine is a 250ml jar of olden-day goodness, and comes at 3.50 SGD hehehe.

It helps with unsightly acne scars, dry skin, acne, sunburns, mosquito bites, cuts, burns, etc.
I usually use it as a sleeping mask and when I wake up, my skin will not be as oily because the layer of powder absorbs the excess oil. I only have to wash my face with water and I'm set to go!
Sometimes I use this as a foundation layer (make sure you apply in advance and blend well, as it will leave a white cast).

The smell is either something you like very much or hate to the core. I kinda like it, but some people tell me it smells like roses and vintagey old things. Vintage is so in now, right? I don't get why they hate it hahaha.

Unfortunately, you can't get this in Singapore anymore due to panic buying last year. Apparently the company wanted to recall the remaining batches because of some texture complaints (some sod probably left their container out uncovered, I bet) so you can only get the whitening one now.

credits to http://www.kaskus.co.id/

I got mine from Brunei, and I believe they still sell them in Malaysia too. If all else fails, try drugstore.com/ ebay/ amazon or drive to Johor to get them or something? :)
I'm getting my mum to get me ten containers of this the next time she goes overseas hahaha.

***************************************************************************************************
Loves: Refreshing feeling, whitish effect
Hates: For some people, the smell might be an issue. Occasionally irritating as the powder will flake off if you apply a thick layer
Pricing: 3.00-5.00 SGD.... any more than that and you have been scammed!

Yadah Angel Lip Tint in Juicy Red

Hi guys!
Today, I'll be reviewing the Angel Lip Tint in Juicy Red from Yadah. I thought I'd do this post first because it requires less effort and I have swatches from some time ago, though they're not very well done because I didn't have energy to edit them to become prettier or whatever. Just bear with me for now because I'm totally drained of energy nowadays. I think I even look stoned in some of the pics haha.

I bought this online at Qoo10 (link directs you to the page) when it was on sale at 5.90 SGD, plus free shipping. Shipping is now at 1 SGD but occasionally the price drops to 4.90 SGD, so grab it quick when it happens!!

When I wanted to buy this, I decided to do my research first and search for reviews on this lip tint. It was super hard to find reviews of this particular colour because apparently EVERYONE is choosing the other colour- Angel Lip Tint in Red Wine. SO IRRITATING!

In the end I decided to choose Juicy Red because I had tons of lip products similar to the Red Wine colour (like reddish pink) and I wanted to try something more refreshing and unique. I mean, if the whole wide world is going to buy the same colour, how boring can it get?!
Now I'm already starting to eye PeriPera's lip tints, particularly the orange one.  It looks so awesome! I bought Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain in Rendezvous, hoping to get coral lips but it was somewhat of a disappointment because the colour of my lips overpowered it and it ended up looking more red than anything else :( I tried using lip concealer but as it was a lip tint it kinda mixed in with the concealer and I ended up with pasty orange on my lips that looked terrible.

ANYWAY.

I really like this lip tint because it can be used in two ways-
1) For the 'Bitten' effect
2) Over the entire lip, like a lipstick.

I really need to make a tutorial on how to achieve the bitten effect because I am seeing so many ugly pictures out there that totally ruins the effect.

Firstly, before you use this,
MAKE SURE YOUR LIPS ARE IN GOOD CONDITION.
I can't describe how MANY people who review this with chapped and peeling lips and oh god it is a sight for sore eyes. If you look at some of the beauty blogger reviews you will know what I mean. I will not name names but some of them are truly awful.
If you have chapped and peeling lips, having the bitten effect will make it look like you're bleeding from the mouth instead of having a sexy 'bitten' effect. Plus, the tint will make all the lines and cracks show up all the more, and you don't want that, do you?

I will show you the pictures before I make any further comments on the product.
I always like to let pictures speak for themselves :)

BARE LIPS
just realised I have a super ugly long chin in this photo omg

Note: I am not nude lol

APPLYING THE LIP TINT...

Oh noes I look like I have buck teeth here

'BITTEN' EFFECT
Stupid camera adjusted the whole pic to a yellowish tone to balance out the red of the lips

FULL COLOUR

I enlarged two of the pictures so you can see the difference. The difference doesn't show up much in pictures because I'm using the webcam camera on my computer instead of my Canon 60D DSLR (Canon FTW! Nikon is not user-friendly at all and the colour isn't as good). If I have time I'll try to retake the pictures, but no promises! But omg my face is so blurry and pixellated.... okay okay I'll retake them. You win!

On to the review.
I really like the lip tint and I use it almost everyday, because this is one lip product that has a brighter lip colour than my bare lips. It is similar to my actual lip colour but a little more intense, so it layers well. I see some pictures out there where the reviewers have a big colour diference between their bare lips and the lip tint, which doesn't give such a nice effect.
In fact, I would highly suggest that you apply a mild tinted lip balm (like Maybelline Baby Lips in Pink Glow or Pink Blast, see review here). Lip Ice Sheer Colour is too bright for the subtle effect anyway, and too pink, unless you are getting the Red Wine Liptint (which leans towards bright pink rather than red)

It is a pity that this lip tint doesn't seem to last long on my lips (maybe because I'm always eating), for me it lasts up to 1-2 hours max on normal school days. If I wear it while going out it lasts a little over 2 hours, but that's it. Re-application is a must if you want to have the bitten effect for a longer time period.

On a random side note, I always tend to eat this lip tint by accident when I'm applying it and it has a sweet/ sour taste. Apparently some reviews say Benetint has a terrible bitter taste, so maybe you can factor this in if you tend to eat it like me haha. Anyway, Yadah is a MUCH cheaper alternative to Benetint.
And I get it on my teeth too! How does that even happen omg.
Okay actually I know why but it is so irritating.

Okay I should explain how the 'bitten' effect is achieved.
Apply the lip tint to the center part of your bottom lip first (nearer the back),
like so

...and purse your lips together several times. Like kissing or doing lip smackers!

Repeat for the top lip, making sure you apply close to the inner part of the lip.

That's all folks!
I'll do a video tutorial next time if I can get Youtube to work on my browser.

***********************************************************************************************
Loves: The awesome colour!
Hates: How quickly it fades. Grrrrrrrrr.
Price: 6.90SGD on Qoo10 , sometimes drops to 5.90 SGD during sales.
